Job Description
Applications are invited for Malaysian Citizens for the position of Safety & Environment Advisor, in Estate Management Section at the Royal Australian Air Force at RMAF Base Butterworth, Penang. This position is classified as LLC3.
Duties and responsibilities:
Ensure safe work principles are planned and observed in all Estate related works by Malaysian Contractors employed by the Australian Defence Force
Monitor all Estate related works by Malaysian Contractors employed by the Australian Defence Force for safety
Promote a rigorous and sustainable safety culture with Locally Engaged Civilians aimed at achieving Australian and Malaysian health and safety legislative obligations
Report and document of all safety related incidents
Conduct induction training for all employees and contractors as required
Review hazard and incident reports to identify trends and implement remedial action
Assist in the investigation of safety related incidents
Monitor performance against contractor Safety Management Plan and assist with the co-ordination of WHS improvements
Participate in WHS policy and process reviews
Monitor adherence to workplace safety standards, instructions, directives and publications to ensure legislative compliance
Represent Locally Engaged Civilians at safety committee meetings
Identify pre work hazards and risks for EMS and Contractors
Conduct tool box meetings and site inspections when required for personnel, tooling and equipment
Conduct or assist with safety audits and workplace inspections
Assist in Base emergency management procedures
Communicate safety and hazard alerts
Prioritise duties as directed by Facilities Manager and OIC
Communicate and Co-ordinate safety activities with the RAAF Safe Advisor as required
Position requirements:
Minimum education of Diploma of Occupational Health and Safety
Good level of written and oral English and local languages
Either have or the ability to complete the Course on Certified Environmental Professional in Scheduled Waste Management (CePSWaM) as per Environment Institute of Malaysia (EiMAS)
Have a valid Malaysian Drivers Licence for a car
Knowledge of Australian Work Health & Safety is highly advantageous
Previous experience in facilities management or construction is highly advantageous

Monday – Thursday 0715 -1600
Friday 0715 -1215
